Not From Here, the IEHS’s digital publication, seeks submissions that explore how instructors teach immigration and ethnic history. Authors are encouraged to explore family migration history projects and the cautions and opportunities that accompany these types of assignments; the trove of digital sites, exhibits, and archives available to migration and ethnic history scholars; and ideas for field trips for migration and ethnic history classes. We also welcome posts that discuss pedagogies that encourage students to think about migration and ethnic history beyond the classroom, and to address how these subjects can be made relevant to students with personal migration histories, to politically engaged students, and to students interested in policy and legal history. This series will also be featured during the OAH workshop on “Teaching Migration and Ethnic History: Content, Audiences, and Creative Pedagogies” that Natalie Mendoza and Andy Urban will be leading.
